Saban for Sheriff Campaign Outraises Arpaio

Challenger’s campaign gaining steam, new funding

Momentum in the County Sheriff’s race continues to shift from the incumbent to the challenger, as the campaign of Dan Saban recorded more contributions than Joe Arpaio in the most recent campaign finance reports filed with the County Recorder’s Office. According to information available through the County Recorder’s Web site, between August 14- September 22, the Saban campaign logged a total of $21,713.61 to Arpaio’s $16,102.51.

Saban campaign manager Bill Perry says the fundraising edge shows more people are backing Dan Saban as the election gets closer. “This is the second straight reporting period that Dan Saban has raised more money than Joe Arpaio,” said Perry. “With Arpaio’s popularity dropping in the opinion polls, and our campaign raising more money, we’re in a great position to defeat this entrenched incumbent and return accountability to the Sheriff’s Office.”

While Arpaio still holds a massive campaign war chest advantage, there is strong evidence that the race is tightening and momentum is shifting. A big factor has been the negative advertising Arpaio has been running, using discredited allegations and deceptive editing to smear Dan Saban. Since Arpaio’s ads began running Tuesday September 30, Saban has received more than $6,000 in campaign contributions.

“Rather than debate me, Joe Arpaio has tried to smear my good name, but voters are seeing through the bullying and dirty tactics,” said Dan Saban. “We fully expect Arpaio to continue his campaign of lies and deceit even though it appears to be backfiring on him. He’s behaving so desperately voters can smell it.”

Yesterday morning, County Republican Chairman Randy Pullen stopped airing the first salacious Arpaio ad, and apologized that the ads were offensive. By afternoon, Pullen had changed his story, telling a talk radio station that the first ad had done its job and that similar attack ads were on the way.

“Yesterday, we released a log of Arpaio’s four-year harassment campaign against Dan, so this is nothing new,” said Perry.” None of Arpaio’s phony charges has stuck, and in fact, they are driving decent people from the Arpaio camp. Our fundraising advantage bears that out.”

“I expect Joe Arpaio to arrest me or my wife on false charges, find former colleagues who will denounce me, or blame me for global warming,” said Saban. “He can’t run on his record or debate me because he has done a lousy job. All he can do is attack.”

The source of this information is the Saban campaign???

The Arizona Republic report is quite different. Arpaio raised $91,000 and Saban raised $38,000. The reports are public record and easy to check for yourself. I checked, the Republic is correct. You are not.

Did Perry really say that this was the second time in a row, or is that a made up fabrication, too??

If the Saban campaign wants to put up a bunch of blogs that spread lies, it looks like they are the worried ones.

Oh, and the allegations against Saban have not been discredited, they have been shown to be 100% true.

That makes this entire report a complete waste and totally false.
